Meet Dr. Lynn Van Rassel
Dr. Van Rassel was born and raised in a little town in Northern Ontario called Kapuskasing. After completing high school, she moved to London to attend the University of Western Ontario where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in 1990 and a Doctor of Dental surgery degree in 1994. Following graduation, Dr. Van Rassel worked in a hospital in the remote setting of Moose Factory and then continued her career working as an associate dentist and teaching hygienists and assistants at Niagara College in Welland, ON. Finally, in 1999, Dr. Van Rassel purchased her own practice here in Orillia.
In total Dr. Van Rassel has been practicing dentistry for over 25 years. She is a member of the Ontario Dental Association and the Canadian Dental Association. She is thankful that she has been able to surround herself with great staff that helps support her mission to promote dental care ethically and professionally.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Van Rassel is an animal lover and a proud supporter of the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society. The doctor and her staff have attended the annual charity dinner and auction as an evening sponsor for many years. Dr. Van Rassel enjoys travel, is an avid Disney fan and the proud mom to two amazing step-daughters and her cat Gracie.
Meet Dr. Evelyn Elsey
Dr. Elsey attended the University of Western Ontario where she received a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and then her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1978. After graduation, she moved to Barrie where she established her dental practice, met her husband and over the next twelve years had 3 children. She sold her practice due to health complications in 1990 and anticipating a future in teaching, went back to the University of Toronto for a 2-year comprehensive dentistry program. She worked at the University of Toronto in emergency and oral diagnosis for 7 years and achieved her fellowship at the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Elsey returned to private practice in 1994 while still working part-time for the university. She then sold her practice in 2007 and now works with Dr. Van Rassel part-time.
Her passion for learning continues and she received her Masters in General Dentistry in 2009.
Dr. Elsey now has free time to enjoy travelling with her husband, golfing, bridge and spending time with her growing brood of grandchildren.
Meet Our Staff
Jessica grew up in Sarnia and moved to the Orillia area to begin her dental schooling at Georgian College. Jessica has been with our office since she began her career in the dental field in 2002. She has worked as a dental assistant, treatment coordinator and dental hygienist. Jessica enjoys her role in educating patients on the importance of preventive dental care. She has two active children, Wesley and Alice that keep her and her husband Scott very busy.
Ruthann graduated as a dental hygienist in 1994 from Canadore College and worked in Burlington for 13 years. She moved to the Orillia area from Waterdown in 2007 and has been working in our office since March 2008. She brings with her a vast knowledge of dentistry and the desire to promote a positive dental care experience. When not at work, Ruthann enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her family.
Amanda is a certified Level II dental assistant. She came to us right out of Georgian College in 2009 and has perfected her skills to help make your dental experience as pleasant as possible. She is the dentists' right hand woman, assisting them in restorative procedures. Amanda and her husband spend their spare time on home renovations and chasing after their children Jaxson, Peyton, and Brynlee.
As a certified Level ll dental assistant, Colleen has had the opportunity to gain experience in a number of different dental settings. This experience helps her in answering questions, making patients feel at ease with their procedures and treatment choices. She is eager to help make your dental care as enjoyable as possible. Outside of work, Colleen enjoys an active lifestyle and spending quality time with family and friends.
Amanda has been with our office since 2013. She is a certified Level ll dental assistant. Amanda enjoys a variety of responsibilities in the office. As treatment coordinator, she is here to help guide new patients through their initial exam and educate them about all our office has to offer. She is available to communicate with all patients and help them with decisions regarding their treatment options. You will also find Amanda assisting with dental procedures and working at the front reception desk. It is a good thing she enjoys multi-tasking! When not at work, Amanda spends time with her husband and boys and their dog, Otis.
Krystal is a born and raised Orillia resident and has been working in our office since 2001. She enjoys greeting and speaking with patients as they come in and out of the office and helping them at the front desk. Krystal obtained her HARP certification to take dental x-rays from Georgian College in 2001. When not at the office she is busy running after her two girls Victoria and Leah, with her husband Charles.
Alison joined our team in December 2017 as a dental receptionist. She has lived and worked in Simcoe County for most of her life. Alison is a graduate of the dental assisting program from Georgian College and has worked as a dental assistant, treatment coordinator and dental receptionist over the span of her career. She enjoys corresponding and communicating with our patients to help them meet their dental needs. When not at the office, she enjoys travelling, yoga and golf, and spending time with her family and friends.
After growing up in Northern Ontario, Glenda moved to the Orillia area and began her career in the dental field in 1988. She is a graduate of the Georgian College dental assisting program and completed her dental hygiene training at Durham College. She has many years of experience working as a dental assistant, a registered dental hygienist and an office manager. She has been with Dr. Van Rassel since 1999 and has enjoyed the opportunity to expand her experiences within the dental office. In her free time, she enjoys curling and camping with her husband and boys and of course their dog, Sarge.
